Logistics:
  • 3 Classes of 24 students
  • 4 “Investigation” Groups of Students in each class:
    • Event Investigation Group
    • People and Places Investigation Group
    • Feelings Investigation Group
    • Typical Graduation Songs Elements Group
  • 6 Jobs in each Group:
    • Leader/Presenter
    • Interviewer
    • Scribe #1 (writes down information for interviewer)
    • Researcher
    • Scribe #2 (writes down information for researcher)
    • Compiler (creates presentation)
  • All 3 classes will collaborate to create a Verse-Refrain Song with 2 verses
  • Each class will write one portion of the song (either the chorus, verse 1, or verse 2)
  • Students will blog/journal/tweet about their experience once a month (for a total of 6 entries)
  • Students will turn in a portfolio of their work
  • The unit will take place over the course of 20 lessons (2nd marking period)
  • The unit includes:
    • Researching and analyzing the topic of graduation songs and feelings
    • Journaling thoughts and feelings
    • Interviewing specialists and peers
    • Creating and Performing a song
